Easy Banana Pudding Ingredients

With the exception of the vanilla wafers, most ingredients in a banana pudding recipe are naturally gluten free. That being said, always read the ingredients on the packaging for hidden gluten. You never know when your favorite brand may change their recipe and begin using an ingredient containing gluten.

Let’s break down the ingredients.

Gluten Free Vanilla Wafers

Vanilla Wafers In Casserole Dish

The Kinnikinnick Brand of vanilla wafers taste pretty close to the Nabisco ones. We’ve found them at local grocery stores, Walmart and online.

Frozen Whipped Topping

Cool Whip and Store Brands of frozen whipped topping do not typically have ingredients containing gluten. It is also important to know that they do not usually state gluten free on the package either.

Instant Vanilla Pudding

Instant Pudding is another item that doesn’t usually contain ingredients that have gluten, but depending on your sensitivity level, it may or may not bother you.

The Milk and Bananas

Of course, you probably already know, neither of these items have gluten!

Easy Banana Pudding Tips

Vanilla Wafers and Bananas In Casserole Dish

This Easy Banana Pudding is perfect for those of you that hate instructions and measuring. Let’s go over some tips to keep this super simple.

  • A glass bread pan makes nice thick layers but find a dish that works best for you.
  • Place the vanilla wafers flat side down so the pudding settles over them nicely.
  • Break some of the wafers up to put fill in any gaps between the whole wafers.
  • Use at least one large banana per layer. Slice them thin enough to cover the wafers. If you want more or less banana, adjust as needed.
  • I prefer dairy milk for the pudding but substitute with whichever milk you prefer.
  • A 3.4 oz box of pudding makes about 2 prepared cups. Place about half on each layer. No need to measure.
  • Use half of the whipped topping for each layer.
  • Use an offset spatula for spreading the pudding and whipped topping.
