- Use Old Fashioned Rolled Oats – Old Fashioned Oats work best with this recipe because they have more texture and are not pressed as thin as quick oats.
- Gluten Free Oats must be labeled as such – Even though oats are gluten free, they are known for being processed along other grains which can cause cross contamination. If you cannot find gluten free oats where you shop, they are available online.
- Oil Use – Lots of granola recipes use oil. I don’t find it is needed in this recipe.
- Fruits and Nuts – I use dried cranberries and sliced almonds in my recipe but change up the recipe as you like with other nuts, seeds or dried fruit. .
- The sweetener – I like the flavor of honey in this recipe but you could also try things like maple syrup or agave nectar to see what you like best.
