Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Coat a 2 quart casserole dish with cooking spray.
Heat Butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Once the butter has melted, add sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5 minutes until most of the liquid has evaporated and the mushrooms begin to brown.
Add the diced onion and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the onions begin to soften.
Once the onions have begun to soften, add the thawed green beans and cook for a minute or two to evaporate some of the water.
Stir in the condensed soup, fried onions, ½ cup shredded cheese, garlic powder, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
Put mixture in prepared casserole dish and bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, remove from oven, top the casserole with the remaining cup of cheese.
Return to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
