Different flavors of hummus have been around for years. It seems there are more and more flavor varieties every time I’m at the store. Making hummus at home is easy and inexpensive. When it comes to flavors, the sky’s the limit as to the flavor varieties you can make.
Jalapeno Cilantro Hummus
I’ve had Jalapeno Cilantro Hummus before from the store and at restaurants so I decided to make my own. It’s a flavorful version that uses canned chickpeas for easy preparation. It has a little spice from the peppers and freshness from the cilantro. Lime juice is the natural citrus option for pairing with the jalapeno and cilantro. The reserved liquid from the chickpeas makes a smooth hummus.
Jalapeno Cilantro Hummus Recipe Tips
Swap the Limes – Use Lemons in place of limes if you prefer one over the other.
Spice it Up – Add more jalapeno or a hotter pepper for a spicier hummus.
Swap the Cilantro – People love or hate cilantro. If you’re on the “it tastes like soap” bandwagon, swap it out for fresh parsley. It won’t taste exactly the same, but will still be delicious.
Hummus is a great gluten free snack dip but can be brought to the next level when you find ingredients to change it up a bit now and then. Give this recipe a try and see for yourself.
