Who doesn’t love a comforting soup from time to time? Some people shy from soups in the warmer months, but I eat soup all through the year. They are easy, affordable, and great way to get a healthy meal. Here are some mouthwatering Gluten Free Soup Recipes to make today.
Gluten Free Soup Recipes With Vegetables
Vegetable Soups may not have meat but they still have a ton a flavor. Along with their flavor they are the most affordable soups you can make. Meat is the ingredient that usually costs the most. When you take that away, you’ve got a meal that costs pennies per portion to make. Check out these Vegetable based gluten free soup recipes.
Butternut Squash Soup
Butternut Squash makes me think of fall, but this puréed soup is great when you want a healthy recipe that’s creamy and delicious. I use an immersion blender to make quick work of blending it up. Then it gets finished off with a little bit of half and half for richness.
Instant Pot Butternut Squash Soup
The Instant Pot gets more and more use in my kitchen. Using it to make my butternut squash soup saves cooking time. Just seal the lid, set the time, and wait until the cooking time is up. You can’t mess it up it’s so easy.
Instant Pot Butternut Squash Soup
Weight Watchers Cabbage Soup
If any of those names make you turn your nose up, stop it. The is low calorie, low carb and full of flavor. It’s really versatile and you can swap out the vegetables that you don’t like for ones that you do.
This cabbage soup has been around FOREVER! It goes by other names like Zero Points Weight Watchers Soup, WW Cabbage Soup, Wonder Soup, One Week Cabbage Soup, and more.
In addition to ingredient swaps in this gluten free soup recipe, I’ve also easy to follow directions for cooking it. Make it on the stove, Instant Pot, or Slow Cooker.
Bieler’s Broth
Bieler’s Broth is a mean and green soup. The color just screams healthy and when you look at the ingredients, you’ll see how affordable it is to make. Ok, I’ll tell you. It’s under $5.00!
Dr. Henry G Bieler, a physician known as a pioneer in alternative medicines developed this soup. He believed the combination of ingredients in his recipe provided a good number of vitamins and minerals that is said to help alkalize, detox, and cleanse the body.
Hungarian Mushroom Soup
I love mushroom soup. If you feel the same way this is a version you have to try. This recipe comes from Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca New York. Their popular soup recipe is easily found on the web but it’s not gluten free.
I changed up the ingredients and made a gluten free version. The gluten free recipe still has the paprika, dill, and sour cream like Moosewood Restaurant’s, but this one is safe for those on a gluten free diet.
Cream of Celery Soup
What version of Cream of Celery Soup are you familiar with? Is it the kind that comes in the can, is condensed, and used in a ton of casserole recipes? This one isn’t it.
Celery is full of flavor and makes a pretty delicious soup. Simmer a few inexpensive vegetables together and whiz them with an immersion blender to purée. Celery might get a bump up in popularity on your veggie list after making this.
Japanese Onion Soup
Eating a meal out when you are gluten free is a challenge. Add Asian restaurants that use soy sauce to the mix and you pretty much have to knock out Asian food options.
You can still have a favorite Asian soup at home when you make it yourself. Japanese Onion Soup is one of my favorites at Hibachi Restaurants. It’s really easy to make at home. This onion and mushroom infused broth is great as a component of your at home Asian meal or just for sipping on when you want a hot comforting drink!
Instant Pot Black Bean Soup
Ok, so black beans are legumes and not vegetables. There isn’t any meat in this soup so I’m going to keep it right where it is in this list.
This fiber filled soup doesn’t require soaking the beans or having to cook them forever. The time saving superpower of the Instant Pot lets you prepare this meal from start to finish in just over an hour.
Gluten Free Soup Recipes With Chicken, Beef, or Pork
Sausage Lentil and Kale Soup
I think I make this soup more often than any of my other soups. It’s so hearty and full of flavor that I’ve been known to thin out the leftovers with a little broth or water to stretch another meal or two out of it.
Well-seasoned sausage gives the soup protein that meat eaters crave. Add vitamin filled kale and lentils for protein and fiber that health nuts love. With all this goodness in one bowl, it’s a full bowl of dinner that keeps everyone happy.
Chicken Soup
And Old Fashioned, Classic favorite that has the ability to heal us mentally and physically. It also usually contains noodles. Are you gluten free and missing noodles? I understand, but I want you to know, this soup will help your noodle missing self feel better.
The key to this recipe being a winner is that doesn’t need noodles as a filler. It’s full of shredded chicken, fresh vegetables and herbs. If those things don’t make you feel better, think of how many calories you’re saving by not eating the noodles!
Zuppa Toscana – An Olive Garden Copycat
When was the last time you went to the Olive Garden? It’s a pasta place so there’s not a lot of gluten free options. I can’t remember the last time my wife and I ate there.
Just because you don’t frequent a restaurant, doesn’t mean you can’t make your own version. Zuppa Toscana is easy to make at home and I think this imposter is tastier than the restaurant made soup.
Egg Roll Soup
Egg Rolls are another no-no for those living gluten free. That doesn’t mean you can’t have all the flavors of an egg roll some other way. Sometimes, I make Egg Roll in a Bowl, other times I make this soup.
Pork, Cabbage, Carrots, Gluten Free Soy and other ingredients famous in egg rolls are put all together in a warm bowl of broth. While it’s not an egg roll in the end, it’s still tasty and shares some of the same flavors.
Gluten Free Soup Recipes – Copycat Substitutions
It seems like there is some kind of cream of “whatever” soup in almost every casserole recipe ever created. Since the Campbell’s versions have wheat, I’ve got some easy substitutes for you to make at home in just a few minutes.
Cream of Mushroom Soup Substitute
This Copycat version has more mushrooms than the store bought version. Whip it up and use it in recipes just like you would the national brand.

Cream of Chicken Soup Substitute
This Copycat version has chicken pieces you can actually see. Make up a batch and use it in recipes just like you would the national brand.
