Restaurant Style Salsa

Chips and Salsa is one of my favorite snacks. I have it at least once a week. Good tortilla chips are important as well, but I prefer the salsa part of the equation. I load each chip up with as much salsa as it will hold. I can easily go through a few bowls of salsa by myself at a restaurant. I like all types of salsa, but I really enjoy restaurant style salsa.

If you’ve been to a Mexican restaurant or to Chili’s  you know what restaurant style salsa is. The salsa is usually a sauce like consistency with few to no large pieces of tomatoes, onions or jalapenos. The spice level is different every time you have it, even though you’re at the same restaurant. Finally, it has some cilantro in it, which some of you love (like me) and the rest of you (like my girlfriend) think that it tastes like soap.

To help with my salsa addiction……I mean enjoyment, I make restaurant style salsa at home. If you’re like me, you sometimes need reasons on why you should make something. To help you with why you should make this salsa, I’ve provided 12 reasons below.

Ingredients

  • 2 15 oz. cans of Diced Fire Roasted Tomatoes.

  • 1 tsp. Cumin
  • ¾ tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 Lime, juiced
  • A handful of Cilantro. I use about 12-15 sprigs.

Instructions

  • Cut Onion and Jalapeno into a few pieces and put into the food processor.
  • Pulse the Onion and Jalapeno a few times until they are chopped.
  • Then, add Tomatoes, Cumin, Garlic Powder, Salt, Lime Juice, and Cilantro
  • Pulse little more until blended.
  • Finally, refrigerate for a few hours to let the flavors blend.
