Make Air Fryer Baked Potatoes and give the oven a break. Baked Potatoes in the air fryer take less time and still have a super crispy skin. This is going to be your new favorite method for cooking spuds.
Air Fryer Baked Potatoes vs Oven Baked
We all have our own method for making baked potatoes. Some people coat them in olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Other people, wrap them in foil. Some poke holes in them so they don’t burst in the oven. All of those methods are just fine but let’s add the Air Fryer to the mix. Here’s why.
Oven Baked Potatoes
Cooking time is 60 minutes.
The oven needs preheating. That’s another 10-15 more minutes!
According to energyusecalculator.com, an oven at moderate heat uses about 2400 watts of power.
4-5 of them take up about 1 cubic foot of oven space.
Air Fryer Baked Potatoes
Cooking time is 40 – 45 minutes.
No preheating time needed.
The Air Fryer I use HERE uses 1800 watts of power.
5-6 fit easily in my air fryer. If you have a basket air fryer, you can probably fit 4-5 of them.
As you can see, the air fryer has some great benefits for cooking them.
Baked Potato Cooking Tips
Here are a few tips for making these potatoes.
- Thoroughly rinse and dry them.
- Take a fork and prick some holes throughout the spud. This allows steam to escape.
- Do not oil and or salt them prior to cooking unless you are going to eat the skin. They cook fine without being oiled. It also makes cleanup easier.
- Air Fryer cooking times vary some, adjust the cooking time up or down as needed.
- They are done when you can insert a paring knife in and out of it without much resistance.
How to Reheat Baked Potatoes in the Air Fryer
Did you make extras? Reheat them in the air fryer so they crisp back up!
- Set the temperature on the air fryer to 400º
- Heat the potato for 4-5 minutes in the air fryer until it’s hot.
Making Air Fryer Potatoes is method that I’m using more often. I hope you give them a try to see if it’s the best method for you as well.
