What Substitutions Can Be Made to the Garlic and Herb Dressing Mix?
Here are some easy substitutions for this dressing mix. Make it the way you want it!
- Add some zip with a little bit of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
- Easily adjust any ingredient to make it more garlicky, less herby, less salty, or more sweet.
- If you’re making it to use immediately, use some fresh herbs in place of the dried. Use approximately three times fresh herbs as you would dried. 1 teaspoon dried herbs equals 1 Tablespoon fresh herbs
- Use your favorite vinegar. White wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar are good substitutes for the white vinegar use in my recipe.
- Use a neutral cooking oil of your choice.
What Is a Neutral Cooking Oil?
When a recipe calls for a neutral cooking oil, it means using an oil that has very little flavor. You don’t want the oil overpowering the flavor of the dish and using a neutral oils lets you taste the flavor of the dish and its ingredients instead of the flavor of the oil.
What Cooking Oils are Neutral?
The following cooking oils are considered neutral.
- Vegetable Oil
- Canola Oil
- Safflower Oil
- Grapeseed Oil
- Peanut Oil
