Ibotta is a mobile app that allows users to earn cash back on in-store and mobile purchases.
What Products and Services Can I Earn Cash Back on and from What Retailers?
The list of products and services where you earn cash back when using Ibotta is extensive. They have you covered for both your instore and online shopping.
Ibotta can be used at most large grocery store chains as well as stores like Walmart, Target and major drug stores. Groceries from every department are on Ibotta including produce, beer, and liquor. Baby products, Over-the-Counter items, Toiletries, and Personal Care are just a few of the non-food items that show up on the app. If you only shop in-store, the grocery offerings alone make using the app worth it.
Online stores include eBay, Jet, Walmart, Target, QVC and more.
Online services include Hulu, Groupon, Orbitz, Hotels.com, booking.com, just to name a few.

How Much Cash Back Can I Earn with Ibotta?
As I mentioned earlier I’ve earned over $400.00 with Ibotta. That is a significant amount of money, especially when earning more cash back is possible with a little more time spent using the app. It’s almost 4 years of Amazon Prime, a new laptop, or 4 Venti Frappucinos at Starbucks.
How much you earn depends on what time you put into the app, how serious you are about earning cash back and what products and services you use. Here’s how you can earn cash back by casually and moderately using the Ibotta App.
Casual Use
If you casually use Ibotta, $1 a week is probably average on what you’ll earn for cash back. That means you opened the app, quickly glanced at the offers, found an offer or two at the grocery store and added them to the app before making your purchases.
Planned Use
Taking a more detailed look at offers (for the couponers and meal planners that use the app) can earn around $5 or $6 a week, depending on what you purchase.
Putting some planning into using the app will earn more cash back. These are some hacks that help with those efforts.
- Loyalty Cards – Some grocery stores are on Ibotta’s preferred list, so link your loyalty card to those stores. It saves you time because you only need to add your offers to the app and will not have to upload a copy of your receipt.
- Recurring Rebates – A used offer often shows up again in the app. If you earned 1.00 on Ketchup it may be available again a few days later. The cash is earned again if you add the offer and purchase the product again. This is great, especially if the product was already on sale and you are stocking up.
- Off Any Items – Ibotta often has “Off Any” offers. .25 back on any receipt, .25 off any canned tomatoes, .25 off chips, .25 off bananas, etc. That’s easy cash back so look for these. If you have both .25 back on any receipt and bananas and all you buy is bananas then you earn .50 back on that one purchase.
- Free After Cash Back is Earned – Recently, I had an offer for Ore-Ida frozen potatoes. The cash back offer amount covered the cost of the potatoes making it essentially FREE.
- Bonuses – Ibotta has bonuses constantly that help boost your earnings.
– Redeem any 6 offers between and earn an extra $2
– Buy Product “A” and Product “B” on the same receipt and earn an extra .75
– Earn an extra $5.00 when you make an online purchase at store “X” through the app. - Stack your offers with coupons – Got a manufactures coupon and an offer on Ibotta for the same product? If so, you can “stack” them. That means you can use that $1.00 off coupon for the product and earn cash back on the Ibotta offer as well. Learn more about finding coupons HERE.
- Stack Rebates – If there is an offer for .25 back on any toothpaste and .75 back on Colgate toothpaste, then both are combined and you would get $1.00 cash back

Find Offers
- In the app, select stores and apps that you go to frequently.
- Look over offers and add the offers to your account. There is usually a small task like answering a question or maybe a short video that’s just a few seconds long.
- Shop instore or online for the offers you added to your app.
Redeem your Offers
- For most instore shopping you will need to take a picture of your receipt and scan the UPC.

How do I Get the Cash Back that I’ve earned?
Your Ibotta account must have a minimum of 20.00 in it for you to cash out to your PayPal or Venmo account.
If you prefer gift cards they have a good number of those available as well. Minimum balance for gift cards depends on the retailer. While some are $20, others start at $25.
Other Tips to Know When Using Ibotta
- Earned cash gets added to your account quickly. Uploaded receipts usually take a few minutes. Loyalty card proof takes a day or so. Remember, this is typical but sometimes there are delays.
- I have used their customer service and have had good response from them in correcting or resolving any issues I have had with receiving my rebate. They are professional and helpful.
- Average Users earn $20 a month using the app.
